China calls for new reserve currency: Worst outbreak of ethnic violence in China in 33 years

Comment: Far too many experts have avered that the U.S. is a toothless tiger, it's best not to pay attention to these self serving individuals. Ethnic tensions in China may run deep and well into the past, however, only a few have the necessary power and the know-how to exploit it.

The outbreak of violence in China's restive Xinjiang province in which 140 people are reported to have died and more than 800 injured comes at a highly sensitive moment for the Chinese government.

If confirmed, the casualty figures represent the worst out break of ethnic violence in China since the end of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) just as Beijing is gearing up to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic in October.

Such is the scale of preparations that students in Beijing are already cancelling their holidays to prepare for the massive parade which will sweep through Tiananmen Square in an event whose pageantry is set to eclipse the opening ceremony of last year's Beijing Olympics.
