A man wanted for alleged drug and fraud crimes in the Czech Republic was found working as a guard at the prison in the central US state of Nebraska.
Michal Preclik was arrested at the maximum-security prison in Tecumseh last month by immigration officials, and proceedings to return him to the Czech Republic have begun.
Preclik had been listed as "wanted" by the International Criminal Police Organization, or Interpol, for a year.
